In his second solo show with GX Gallery, British artist Alex Morton continues to capture the powerfully meditative quality of the ocean.
‘I fell in love with the ocean as a child, the ocean has since been the place I feel most at home, it is where I can think, it is where I best relax, it is where I like to play surfing and windsurfing. The work I generate, especially the larger pieces, seek to capture this feeling for me. Most likely an endless process my work seeks to satisfy my eye and the feeling I am rewarded by the ocean. My work is becoming increasingly textured with multiple layers of collage and paint to lift the image off the canvas towards the viewer. I can feel this direction continuing with further experimentation and a bias towards the bigger the canvas the better.’ - Alex Morton
