We are delighted to announce the exhibition of photographs by Philip Rhys Matthews. This work blurs the borders between fashion photography and fine art by exploring critical issues and questioning the world in which we live through clothing and costume. The meticulous attention to detail in his projects, from set building, prop making and creating the garments, all undertaken by himself, ensure every element is a considered compositional and conceptual feature. The artist has always been interested in how our world works and in a lot of cases, how it doesn’t. Most of his projects are largely informed by current events, scientific breakthroughs, global concepts, or anything that shapes our world and deserves examination.
